6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
South Chattanooga Recreation Center
Our regular 2nd Monday free public meeting this month (April 9) will be at a different location – the South Chattanooga Recreation Center at 1151 W. 40th St., Chattanooga TN 37409. There is plenty of parking all around the building. The parking in front will probably fill up quickly, but there is additional parking on either side of the building. The left side shares a lot with the “Teacher’s Place” building and Ben Miller Park which wraps around the back.
The program, Urban Trees, will feature Erica Lewis leading an exciting discussion about the benefits of urban trees and how trees affect our day to day lives. This discussion will include some interesting facts about trees and how they communicate with each other and their surroundings. We will also have an opportunity to go for a tree walk and identify some quick and easy ways to recognize different species.
The program will be held in the first room on the right when you walk in the front door of the Rec Center. The program will begin at 6:00pm with a presentation by Erica Lewis, and will continue outside to check out some of the trees around the Rec Center.
Erica Lewis is a certified arborist and tree lover. She has a bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Biology and enjoys all things outdoors. She is a member of the Chattanooga Tree Commission and works as a Utility Arborist for a Co-op in Georgia.
After the program, everyone is invited to drive or walk to Mad Knight Brewery right down the street (4015 Tennessee Ave.). They are opening up just for us! We hope you can stay and socialize!
Free and open to the public.
